The excitement in the air, as we all queue to board the two handsome passenger catamarans at the Beachcomber wharf this November the 9th, we will have all the anticipation of the previous 9 half marathons. The 1 hour cruise to the start line at Anakiwa has a unique energy. As we motor out of Picton Harbour, huddles of friends gather aboard to tell each other they haven’t done enough training, perhaps an early excuse just in case they have a slow day, whilst the more serious close their eyes and focus on everything they have learned in training and then rethink their race plan. It will be just a couple of hours before all will be forgotten and the beckoning Lochmara Lodge, a swim and a relaxing drink and lunch will be front of mind.
This is your invitation to not only run this beautiful course, but also to dust off the winter just past, maybe loose a bit of weight and lift your fitness levels and join 199 other competitors in this the 10th anniversary Lochmara Lodge Half Marathon in 2024.
Competitors say “No other event delivers what the Lochmara Lodge Half Marathon does”. The cruise to the start, the on board race briefing, the gorgeous course, the intimacy of a small field, followed by the lunch (at your cost) and the prizegiving prior to the journey home with Captain Tony, sitting top decks, as you cruise back in to Picton Harbour.
The walk section is open to all competitors who consider they cannot complete the half marathon course within the 3 hours 30 minute cut off. You will be started and timed from the Anakiwa Wharf at the same time as the runners, however by deleting the 3km loop you will make it to Lochmara Lodge within our time limits, journeying north direct to the Lodge. You will have the same opportunities to win spot prizes and fun prizes as everyone on the adventure. The podium will be there to celebrate the success of the speed bunnies.
So, train up a bit! We are limited to 200 runners /walkers so celebrate the 2024 Spring in style and enter now.
Lochmara Lodge prize giving, and barbecue is something not to be missed and you will join the Beachcomber once more to be back in Picton by 2.30. What an adventure!
